PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Designing a Cooperative Game for Fostering Social Interactions in Co-working Spaces
Cooplay is a service aimed at improving the quality of interactions between the members of coworking spaces, where the interactions between people usually do not go beyond shallow ones. This barrier of shallowness can be eliminated through intimation through cooperation and competition provided by these games, where users have to cooperate to complete the game.
MOTIVATION
Coworking spaces are approached by many independent professionals and micro-businesses to provide an environment with affordances for social interactions. While many coworking spaces put the weight of their value proposition on a sense of community, it is suggested that benefiting from mobilized social support is the main motivation behind users' participation in coworking spaces, and currently, in many cases, this topic is still underdeveloped.
There is limited knowledge on factors leading to the creation of social support and on sustaining it among the members of coworking spaces. There are, however, studies on correlation of potential connections and factors between business and personal interactions in coworking spaces and their potential to lead to trust creation and, consequently, social support. While initiation of social support is briefly discussed in literature, sustaining it and its co-relation with users' working condition in the dynamic context of coworking spaces is not discussed as much.
